Funtional Business Analyst - Tax and Reporting

Title: Funtional Business Analyst - Tax and Reporting Location: United states (Remote) Duration: 3 months Contract Compensation: $45/hr. Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S. Skillset / Experience: Position Summary We are seeking a highly analytical Functional Business Analyst / QA Analyst to support SAP S/4HANA Tax processes and reporting initiatives. This role will serve as the bridge between Tax, Finance, and IT teams, ensuring business requirements are accurately documented, configured solutions meet business needs, and all tax-related processes and reporting are thoroughly validated through manual testing. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of tax processes within SAP S/4HANA, experience creating test scenarios and executing manual testing, and the ability to analyze complex business requirements related to indirect tax, direct tax, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Testing

• Develop comprehensive manual test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data for SAP S/4HANA tax functionality.
• Execute end-to-end manual testing across tax determination, calculation, reporting, and compliance processes.
• Perform System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, and defect retesting.
• Validate tax-related reports, interfaces, data conversions, and financial reconciliations.
• Identify, document, track, and retest defects through resolution.
• Ensure testing coverage aligns with business requirements and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate UAT activities with business stakeholders and provide testing status updates.

SAP Tax & Reporting Support

• Validate tax calculations and reporting outputs within SAP S/4HANA.
• Support testing of tax engines and integrations such as Vertex, Avalara, Thomson Reuters, or similar tax solutions.
• Verify tax reporting accuracy for sales and use tax, VAT, GST, withholding tax, and other applicable tax requirements.
• Assist in validating tax configurations and impacts resulting from system changes.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end tax reporting activities as needed.

Documentation & Governance

• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and business outcomes.
• Create detailed testing evidence and audit documentation.
• Support change management and release readiness activities.
• Participate in project status meetings and provide QA metrics and testing progress updates.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of Business Analyst and/or QA Analyst experience.
• 3+ years of experience supporting SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Experience performing manual testing of business processes and reporting solutions.
• Strong understanding of tax-related business processes and financial reporting.
• Experience creating test plans, test cases, defect documentation, and test execution reports.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI), Tax, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable processes.
• Experience testing tax engines such as Vertex, Avalara, OneSource, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of indirect tax, sales and use tax, VAT, GST, and withholding tax processes.
• Experience using test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, or similar solutions.
• Experience supporting SAP transformation, migration, or implementation projects.
• Understanding of financial controls, audit requirements, and compliance regulations.
