Team Lead, COE Business Intelligence

About the position We are seeking a Team Lead, Business Intelligence to join our Centre of Excellent (COE) team. The Team Lead will be an integral part of the Centre of Excellence (COE) at People Corporation (PC), focused on technology transformation and improving how the business works through modern reporting and workflow solutions. This role leads delivery of business intelligence and technology transformation initiatives by partnering with leaders across the organization, translating overall strategy into a prioritized portfolio of work, and ensuring projects keep moving forward to implementation with a white glove approach and high client satisfaction. The Team Lead provides day-to-day guidance to analysts, reviews and signs off on work outputs, and helps shape the broader roadmap, standards, and ways of working for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and business leaders to clarify objectives and requirements, translating them into prioritized BI solutions, workflow builds, and a technology transformation roadmap
  • Own end-to-end delivery of BI initiatives, including intake, scoping, planning, dependencies, timelines, and risk/issue management—ensuring projects keep moving forward
  • Report into the Director, COE Business Intelligence with clear updates on progress, risks, resourcing needs, and outcomes—turning overall strategy into executable plans and on-time project delivery
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and support to Business Intelligence Analysts, including task assignment, removing blockers, skills development, and building Group Benefits domain knowledge
  • Review and quality-check analyst outputs (dashboards, reports, data updates, documentation, and communications) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and a strong user experience
  • Establish and improve standards for reporting, dashboard design, data definitions, and support processes; drive continuous improvement of team workflows
  • Inform technology and business transformation delivery by identifying opportunities to modernize reporting and build/improve workflows in new technology, ensuring solutions are scalable, documented, and aligned to business outcomes

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Demonstrated ability to lead delivery of multiple initiatives in parallel—prioritizing, planning, and managing competing demands.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and strong capability with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy; able to review and validate others’ work
  • Ability to coach and support others, foster a fun, lighthearted, and creative team environment, and drive consistent ways of working.
  • Sensitivity to confidential information and sound judgment in data handling and communications

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading or mentoring analysts, including work planning, feedback, and quality assurance
  • Basic knowledge of AI prompting and common AI tools (considered an asset), with an interest in applying them responsibly to improve productivity and solution quality
  • Experience with dashboards and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau, including establishing standards and best practices
  • Experience building workflow automations (e.g., Power Automate) and applying modern tooling to streamline business processes.
  • CRM experience and the ability to translate front-line needs into reporting and process improvements
  • UAT testing experience and familiarity with release planning, change management, and technology transformation delivery
  • Experience in Group Benefits (considered an asset)
