About the Position
As a Physician Infectious Disease Specialist with the Iowa City VA Health Care System, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care, teaching, and research in the field of infectious diseases. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with complex infectious diseases. Your expertise will be essential in supervising Infectious Diseases fellows, participating in hospital-wide committees, and engaging in clinical research.
Responsibilities
* Provide primary outpatient care to patients with HIV/AIDS and other complex infectious diseases
- Supervise Infectious Diseases fellows on the inpatient consultation service and in Infectious Diseases clinic
- Participate in hospital-wide committees, including the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees
- Develop and engage in clinical research in infectious diseases
- Teach and mentor Internal Medicine residents and Infectious Diseases fellows
- Provide telehealth consults to areas of our network that lack Infectious Diseases physicians
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with complex infectious diseases
Qualifications
* United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
- Board eligible Infectious Disease
- Proficiency in spoken and written English

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
* Competitive salary: $220,000 - $300,000 per year
- Annual performance bonus
- Regular salary increases
- Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time off per year
- Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
