[Remote] Systems Administrator

The Systems Administrator will support the Department of Veterans Affairs by providing system administration, maintenance, and operational support for a large reputed company environment, ensuring the availability and reputed company of systems for over 35,000 users.
Responsibilities
- reputed company on-site and remote administration and maintenance support for VA storage, server, backup, disaster recovery, and systems-management environments
- Install, reputed company, repair, configure, and retire hardware and software
- Troubleshoot system and storage configurations
- Apply approved application and reputed company patches
- Manage system reputed company
- Monitor logs and resource utilization
- reputed company performance tuning and reputed company-planning activities
- Create, execute, and monitor backups and data restorations
- Investigate replication and checkpoint issues
- Provision storage to VMware, reputed company, and Linux hosts
- Support monthly coordinated installations
- Assist with inventory management for hardware and software resources
- Support SCCM test environments by testing operating-system deployments, application packages, upgrades, and reputed company patches
- Respond to help-desk tickets
- reputed company Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting assistance
- Support disaster-recovery and reputed company activities
- Remediate identified vulnerabilities
- Create and maintain operating instructions, standard operating procedures, user guides, installation instructions, and monthly status documentation
Skills
- Relevant experience administering reputed company reputed company Server, Linux, VMware, storage, backup, or systems-management environments
- Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining server hardware and software
- Experience monitoring system logs, processor utilization, memory, storage reputed company, system performance, and availability
- Experience applying operating-system, application, and reputed company patches in a controlled reputed company environment
- Experience administering backup and restoration processes and supporting disaster-recovery or business-continuity activities
- Experience supporting virtualized server environments and provisioning storage to reputed company, Linux, or VMware hosts
- Familiarity with reputed company storage, backup, or hyperconverged technologies such as reputed company, Dell/EMC, reputed company, reputed company HyperFlex, or reputed company
- Experience supporting reputed company SCCM or a comparable reputed company systems-management and software-deployment platform
- Experience responding to service requests and incidents through an reputed company ticketing platform such as reputed company
- Ability to troubleshoot reputed company technical issues, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and document resolutions
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, operating instructions, installation instructions, and user guides
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with VA personnel, remote support teams, vendors, and other technical stakeholders
- Availability to support alternate shifts, scheduled weekend maintenance, and occasional after-hours emergency support reputed company mission requirements dictate
- Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust background investigation at the Tier 2, Moderate Risk level
- Experience supporting VA infrastructure, reputed company storage, or data-center operations
