Real Estate Associate
New York Life Investment Management is a leading global asset manager with over $800 billion in assets under management. The Investment Associate will support commercial real estate debt and equity originators and equity asset managers, engaging in mortgage origination and equity acquisition processes including underwriting, research, due diligence, and financial modeling.
Responsibilities
- Support commercial real estate debt and equity originators and equity asset managers
- Involved in all aspects of the mortgage origination and equity acquisition process including underwriting, research, due diligence, negotiations, deal structuring, and closing
- Financial modeling, investment analysis, and preparation of internal investment memoranda are the core aspects of the job
- Participate in internal and external client meetings, presentations to senior management, and property/market tours
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field required
- 0-3 years of experience in Real Estate
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and technical skills
- Effective written and verbal communications skills
- Clear thinker, creative yet thorough problem-solver, strong research skills
- Positive demeanor, outgoing personality who will work cooperatively with other team members
- The ability to work under time pressure, multi-task, and negotiate competing priorities
- Self-motivated, pro-active, sense of urgency, conscientious, takes pride in providing high quality work product
- Working knowledge of various commercial real estate asset classes including office buildings, shopping centers, multifamily properties, industrial buildings, and other specialty asset types
- Understanding of various debt product including senior mortgages, mezzanine and subordinated loans, and preferred equity
