As an in‑person Math Tutor with TPAPT, you will:• Build strong, trust‑based relationships with students and their families.• Diagnose learning gaps through direct observation and targeted questioning.• Create bespoke lesson plans that align with each student’s curriculum, learning style, and academic goals.• Serve as a mentor, instilling confidence, problem‑solving habits, and a growth mindset.• Contribute to a broader network of educators dedicated to raising achievement standards across the Phoenix region.Key Responsibilities – Your Day‑to‑Day ImpactDirect Teaching & Learning Support• Provide one‑on‑one, in‑home math tutoring sessions for students in grades 5‑12 , adhering to a mutually agreed schedule that often includes evenings and weekends.• Diagnose individual learning needs through pre‑session assessments, ongoing observations, and dialogues with students.• Design and deliver customized lesson plans that cover core topics such as arithmetic, pre‑algebra, algebra I & II, geometry, trigonometry, pre‑calculus, and SAT/ACT test‑prep content.• Utilize hands‑on manipulatives, visual aids, technology tools, and real‑world examples to make abstract concepts concrete.• Guide students through homework assignments, ensuring they understand both procedural steps and underlying concepts.Progress Monitoring & Reporting• Maintain meticulous records of each tutoring session, including attendance, topics covered, mastery levels, and any challenges encountered.• Generate weekly progress reports for families, highlighting successes, areas for improvement, and actionable next steps.• Collaborate with parents and, when appropriate, school teachers to align tutoring objectives with classroom instruction.Professional Collaboration & Development• Participate in quarterly professional‑development workshops hosted by TPAPT, focusing on best practices in differentiated instruction, assessment techniques, and digital learning resources.• Share insights and successful strategies with fellow tutors through an internal knowledge‑sharing platform.• Stay current with the latest curriculum standards (e.g., Common Core, Arizona State Standards) and standardized‑test requirements.Essential Qualifications – What We Require to Succeed• Education: Currently enrolled in the junior year (or beyond) of a four‑year, degree‑granting college or university, with a focus on mathematics, education, or a related field.
