The New York State Education Department's Office of Information Technology Services is seeking applicants for multiple Information Technology Specialist 2 positions. These roles involve web application development, server and networking support, database administration, and help desk support, among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Web application development leveraging technologies such as Java, JavaScript, and SQL
  • Server and networking support for our in-house data center as well as Cloud infrastructure
  • Database Administration for Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL databases
  • Application Integration support for API Services, Continuous Delivery
  • Low-code platform development and administration
  • UX Design and Development; and
  • Enterprise Help Desk Support and Automation

Skills

  • A bachelor's or higher-level degree, including or supplemented by 15 credit hours in computer science
  • A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and at least one year of the experience in information technology
  • A minimum of 60 college semester credit hours including at least 15 credit hours in computer science and one year of the experience in information technology
  • Two years of the professional experience in information technology
  • Current NYSED State employees must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Information Technology Specialist
  • Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Information Technology Specialist 2
  • Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title
  • Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in any of the following titles: Supervising Computer Operator
  • Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated SG-16 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law
  • Candidates must possess a current 55b/c eligibility letter and one of the following minimum qualifications: a bachelor's or higher-level degree, including or supplemented by 15 credit hours in computer science, a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and at least one year of the experience in information technology, a minimum of 60 college semester credit hours including at least 15 credit hours in computer science and one year of the experience in information technology, Two years of the experience in information technology
