CAD - Claims Counsel, Remote

We are seeking a Disability Claims Counsel to support a Fortune 500 financial services firm. This role is fully remote in Canada.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of short-term and long-term disability benefit claims to provide expert legal analysis.
• Analyze and interpret medical records alongside applicable legal standards to support claim assessments.
• Advise on Canadian tax implications related to disability benefits and the integration of Canada Pension Plan (CPP) disability benefits.
• Collaborate closely with in-house counsel and external teams to develop legal strategies.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in claims litigation, with a preferred focus on disability / benefit denial cases.
• Strong familiarity with medical records, disability law, and related regulatory frameworks in Canada.
• Solid litigation background with courtroom experience is preferred.
• Must be licensed to practice law in a Canadian province.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
