Job description: Stuart Hall School, an independent Episcopal day and boarding school serving grades 6-12, seeks a full-time Instructional Music Teacher to join our dynamic learning community and help build a music program based on Mastery principles. This is an opportunity to contribute to our skills-based curriculum and engage students in an environment that prizes curiosity and intellectual risk taking in the pursuit of knowledge.Position HighlightsThe Instructional Music Teacher will:Teach four sections of instrumental music, including Middle School Music, Upper School Instrument Ensemble, and other performance- or classroom-based courses.
Serving as the Music Program Coordinator for the School, ensuring music performances are rehearsed and presented for significant school events.
Implement Mastery Learning principles by providing clear standards, scales, and assessments.
Integrate technology into instruction by using tools such as Google Classroom.
Provide timely, meaningful feedback to students.
Participate in fostering an inclusive and collaborative school community.
Additional ResponsibilitiesServe as an advisor to a small group of students.
Contribute to co-curricular activities such as coaching, clubs, or student groups.
Support the residential life program (on-campus housing available).
Engage in school life, including meetings, events, and supervisory duties.
Required Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree.
Expertise in instrumental music instruction and performance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge to develop a skills-based curriculum.
Interest in engaging beyond the classroom, including coaching or student activities.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications (absences will not harm application)Master’s degree or higher.
Experience in vocal instruction and performance.
Experience with Standards-Based Learning and instructional differentiation.
Previous experience in a boarding school setting.
Experience coaching interscholastic sports
