About the position Abt Global is seeking a data analytics candidate with a strong background in environmental science or energy systems to join its expanding team within the Digital and Data Services (DDS) Division. This division is pivotal in providing data science methodologies, data visualization, and automation tools to a diverse array of government agencies, university researchers, and foundations. The work primarily focuses on public policy, program evaluation, and data modernization across various sectors, including energy, environment, healthcare, public health, housing, and human services, both domestically and internationally. The selected candidate will primarily collaborate with clients in the environmental and energy sectors, contributing to projects that aim to address complex technical questions through data-driven insights. In this role, the candidate will engage in data cleaning, analysis, and visualization of both textual and numerical data. They will leverage tools available in Azure and AWS cloud environments to deploy analytics or modeling workflows. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing analysis plans, effectively communicating the strengths and weaknesses of various analyses, and identifying and applying suitable analytic techniques. A strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R is essential for this position, as the candidate will be expected to write code and implement quality assurance processes, including documentation of analytical requirements and version control. Responsibilities

• Familiarity with environmental or energy data analytics and programming.

• Understanding of environmental or energy data.

• Collect data from various sources, e.g., web scraping and APIs, and perform data management tasks (data wrangling, cleaning, etc.).

• Familiarity with time series data and data sets with complex relationships.

• Write code in various programming languages, including Python or R.

• Design and implement quality assurance and management processes, including documentation of analytical requirements, version control, and code defect management.

• Strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Requirements

• BA/BS plus 2 years of experience, MA/MS plus 0 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 2+ years of consulting experience.

• Experience publishing environmental science and/or energy manuscripts, dashboards, or products.
