Job Summary: The Chemical Plant Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Maintenance Technician will install, repair, and maintain instrumentation and electrical equipment onsite at a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant in Baytown. In This Role, You Will: • Install, inspect, calibrate, repair, and modify process controls, control valves, safety devices, analyzers, PLC’s, field instrumentation (pressure, level, and flow instrumentation), process monitoring equipment, low and high voltage motors and breakers, control circuits, and the distributed control system (DCS) onsite at the chemical plant. • Identify problems with equipment and determine best course of action. • Investigate equipment failures onsite to diagnose the root cause of failure, recommend solutions to improve the performance of equipment to ensure the reliability and capacity of electrical systems used onsite. • Program automated equipment and control systems and test equipment to ensure it is working properly. • Assist with the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative, routine, and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns while improving the overall manufacturing plant capabilities. • Evaluate new methodologies, equipment, instrumentation, controls, and technology for possible application and use onsite. • Provide high level I&E technical and hands-on support for both planned and unplanned shutdowns. • Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and security related best practices, and policies, including process safety management (PSM). • Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization. What We Require: • Must have electrical and mechanical aptitude. • Ability to install, inspect, test, adjust and repair electronic, electro-mechanical, control circuits and systems required. • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical drawings and schematics, equipment drawings, and safety procedures including federal and state OSHA guidelines. • Ability to demonstrate safety when using hand and power tools commonly used in maintenance work performed. • Understand the properties, behaviors, and hazards of the equipment with knowledge of machinery and equipment overhauls and refurbishment. • Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently and lead maintenance efforts the maintenance department. • Associate’s degree in instrumentation or electrical related discipline preferred, or electronic or instrumentation training at a recognized trade or technical school. • Five years of instrumentation and electrical maintenance experience in a chemical manufacturing plant or related industrial environment. • Experience working with electrical controls, electrical distribution systems, and motor controls. • Previous maintenance experience with high voltage equipment and an expertise in troubleshooting issues to resolve complex maintenance-related problems safely.
