Substation Apprentice/Technician

About the position The Substation Apprentice/Technician position at Entergy Texas, Inc. involves training and assisting in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of electric transmission and distribution substations. The role is designed for individuals at various levels of apprenticeship, allowing for progression based on experience and qualifications. The position requires a commitment to safety and the ability to perform tasks under supervision, with opportunities to work on energized equipment and assist in various technical duties. Responsibilities • Assist in the erection of steel structures, including foundations. , • Work on energized conductors, circuits, and busses up to 500 volts. , • Install miscellaneous hardware, grounds, and fittings during construction. , • Perform transmission and distribution switching. , • Tie knots and splice rope. , • Assist qualified mechanic in simple routine inspection and maintenance. , • Assist in the handling, moving, and installation of all transmission, distribution, and plant equipment. , • Assist in testing and filtering oil and minor repairs to transformers and oil circuit breakers. , • Prepare reports and records. , • Operate Company's vehicles and equipment. Requirements • Must be willing and able to perform less difficult tasks and assist others in high and low voltage work. , • Know Company's safety rules and be willing to administer approved methods of resuscitation and practical first aid. , • Hold a current Class A CDL license or be willing to obtain one within a specified time period. , • Have knowledge of line and substation material and use of line and substation construction tools and equipment. Nice-to-haves • Experience in related work as a Substation Apprentice or equivalent experience.
