Junior Underwriter (PGIA) Hybrid (Remote available for the right candidate) Partners General Insurance Agency, LLC, a subsidiary of K2 Insurance Services, LLC, is seeking a full-time Junior Underwriter to join their underwriting team in the Shelton, CT area. This is an office hybrid position. Candidates will be in or near Shelton, CT. While this role is designed as an office hybrid position in the Shelton, CT area, remote work options may be considered for highly qualified candidates based on experience and alignment with company needs. Founded in 2001, Partners General is a managing underwriter for general liability and excess liability programs offered in all 50 states. Acquired by San Diego-based K2 Insurance Services in 2018, Partners General continues to expand its product offerings by developing new insurance programs for national distribution. Junior Underwriter Role: • Work directly with Regional Vice President to collect, review and analyze an applicant to determine the liability / level of risk of insuring, coverage needs and appropriate pricing • Offer management recommendations on whether or not to approve an application • Follow up with Brokers to obtain documentation and outstanding items • Keep detailed records / notes of policies underwritten and decisions made • Assist management in developing and maintaining a profitable book of business • Assist management in negotiating terms, conditions and pricing to ensure profitability • Work within a team-oriented environment to collaborate on risk and strategy • Develop a comprehensive understanding of coverage forms and endorsements • Develop a comprehensive understanding of carrier guidelines • Confidently make educated decisions on behalf of the company and our carriers Ideally, the Junior Underwriter will have: • Strong work ethic • Strong organizational skills • Strong analytical skills • Personability or willingness to speak with clients via phone call. • Desire to learn and grow and hunger for career growth • Willingness to take on Ad Hoc projects • Willingness to travel locally when / if needed • Team player / team-oriented mentality • Sensible judgement and attention to detail Technical Skills: • 3-5 years of prior experience in commercial casualty insurance, including Commercial General Liability and/or Excess Liability • Basic knowledge of insurance policies and ability to relate policy provisions to loss exposure • College Degree Not Required (Highly Preferred) • Ability to be in Shelton, CT office 2-3x a week (Highly Preferred) • Institute designations not required, but advantageous and preferred.
