What we offer: tFlexible schedule tHeath insurance tPaid holidays (including your birthday), sick leave, vacation and maternity leave tLarge personal office and work space tReimbursed work mileage tCellphone data coverage The Education Outreach Director will: Lead the Education Outreach Team to develop programs and activities to educate teachers and students about agriculture in accordance with the mission and goals of the program: Mission Statement: Increase youth awareness on the importance of agriculture, agriculture careers and the benefits provided by agriculture throughout an individual's life. Goals: tIntroduce Iowa agriculture and encourage agriculture to become part of the regular curriculum in Linn County Elementary Schools. tIntroduce agriculture careers to Linn County junior high/middle school students. tWork directly with Linn County FFA Chapters to advocate for agriculture. tMaintain communication links among the Ag community, school boards, administrators, teachers and staff. tEmphasize a positive attitude towards agriculture. tProvide information to classroom teachers and serve as a resource for teachers/curriculums. tHave a positive voice in the media (both traditional and social) for agriculture and agricultural education. tWork directly with Linn County Extension and Outreach to offer the hatching program. tProvide additional summer programming through kits, fairs, workshops, etc. tAgree to act in accordance with the General Job Description: General Job Description: In cooperation with the Linn County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and the County Farm Bureau's Education Outreach Program Advisory Committee, and at the direction of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Region 8 Manager, the position of Education Outreach Director will be responsible for the following: tDirect the Education Outreach Program and team. tCreate and promote awareness of agriculture and the Education Outreach Program by meeting with tteachers and school personnel. tMaintain positive relations with current teacher connections. tDevelop programs and lessons for and with teachers to integrate agriculture as part of the tregular curriculum. tConduct classroom presentations to create and promote awareness of agriculture and agriculture tcareers with students and staff. tAlign lesson plans with Iowa Core Standards and National Agriculture Literacy Outcomes. tWork to further develop the Education Outreach Program. tProvide periodic articles and photos to the Linn County Farm Bureau Outreach Coordinator and other media outlets to educate members regarding the Education Outreach Program. tMaintain the Linn County Education Outreach Facebook page and website (www.linncoag.com). tBe a liaison between schools and the Iowa Ag Literacy Foundation to provide resources and information for continued teacher support. tOther duties as directed or assigned.
