If you need assistance, please contact us at [email protected] SUMMARY: Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course by course basis throughout an academic year. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two (2) courses) within the required discipline. Instruction may be delivered on-campus, off-campus, or online and may be during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs. • Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards (for didactic courses). • Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments (for didactic courses). • Supervise clinical practice activities (simulation and clinical agencies) as assigned. • Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class and clinical, assignments, and examinations. • Participates in course planning meetings as appropriate. • Submits end of course reports as appropriate. • Assist/mentor students as needed. • Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Education: Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field is required to teach undergraduate courses OR a terminal degree in the field of study or closely related is required to teach graduate courses. • Experience: One year clinical experience in the teaching area. • Knowledge / Skills: Knowledge of patient care in practice area related to teaching assignment. Skilled in teaching pedagogy and nursing skills related to teaching assignment. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others. • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Texas R.N. Licensure or Texas APRN licensure as FNP (graduate clinical courses) • Physical Requirements: able to perform nursing and teaching skills associated with assignment • Other Requirements: Documentation of meeting clinical readiness requirements (immunizations, insurance and BCLS as required of students). PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE: • Candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials (MSN with an emphasis in nursing education). • College or University teaching experience. • Evidence of teaching excellence. • Prior relevant industry experience. • Online or hybrid teaching experience.
