Position Type: High School Teaching/English/Language Arts Date Posted: 4/17/2024 Location: Hazel Park Schools Administration Building District: Hazel Park Schools Job Title: Distance Learning Teacher (Michigan Virtual Charter Academy) Job Overview: As a Distance Learning Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality educational content and facilitating learning experiences for students in virtual environments. You will engage with students through various online platforms, providing instruction, feedback, and support to ensure their academic success. Key Responsibilities: • Curriculum Development: Develop and adapt curriculum materials for online delivery, ensuring alignment with educational standards and learning objectives. • Instructional Delivery: Deliver live or pre-recorded instructional sessions using video conferencing, learning management systems, and other digital tools. • Student Engagement: Foster a supportive and interactive online learning environment to promote student engagement and participation. • Assessment and Feedback: Design and administer assessments to measure student progress and provide timely feedback on assignments, projects, and discussions. • Individualized Support: Provide individualized support and guidance to students as needed, including academic advising and counseling. • Communication: Maintain regular communication with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues to address questions, concerns, and updates related to coursework and student progress. • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in online teaching, instructional technology, and educational research to continuously improve teaching effectiveness. • Collaborate with the school team to ensure a high level of student academic success and participation. • Utilize the Edgenuity platform to assign, monitor and provide oversight to student learning. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Education, or related field; Master's degree preferred. • Previous experience in online teaching or distance education preferred. • Proficiency in using online learning platforms, video conferencing tools, and other educational technology. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students in a virtual setting. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Adaptability and flexibility to meet the diverse needs of students in an online learning environment. Additional Information: • This position may require flexible hours to accommodate students in different time zones. • Training and ongoing support will be provided to assist with the transition to online teaching. Reports to Executive Director of Student Services Working Conditions: This is a remote position, requiring a reliable internet connection and appropriate technology setup. The Distance Learning Teacher must be flexible in adapting to virtual teaching environments and collaborating effectively in an online setting.
