Job Summary The Clinical Resource Nurse must possess the crucial knowledge and expertise to function as a nursing resource for various departments and age types of patients under their care. Effective communication skills between medical staff, nursing staff, patients, families, and other departments are critical. Job Description

Essential Functions: • Provides guidance and support needed to meet patient care goals while building a positive work environment. • Takes a leadership role in raising awareness about Patient and Family-Centered Care. • Accommodates Hospital Coordinators and Physicians by aiding with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. • Establishes nursing care for patients within the nursing process framework, comprising gathering relevant data and other information, identifying nursing diagnoses, needs, and issues, applying appropriate interventions based on nursing policies, standards, established protocols, or RN professional judgment, assessment of patient responses to interventions, and alteration of the care plan as needed. Works with the physician and healthcare team to coordinate post-hospital care requirements. • Demonstrates adeptness and professionalism when handling unanticipated situations and emergencies. Remains watchful of potential problems and promptly contacts the appropriate individuals. • Through directing and providing guidance to the healthcare team, the nursing care manager plays a key role in managing the delivery of nursing care services utilizing the nursing process and achieving positive patient outcomes. • Provides education and training to nursing staff to ensure that they are knowledgeable and skilled in all aspects of patient care. • Manages staffing levels effectively while maintaining productivity objectives and remaining within financial constraints. Adjusts workload distribution based on acuity to ensure patient safety and satisfaction. Delegates responsibilities competently and justly. • Critical thinking is essential in ensuring effective coordination of medical and nursing interventions. The application of this cognitive skill allows healthcare providers to create care plans that support optimal clinical outcomes. • Carries out regular rounds with patients and their families, ensuring their welfare and providing prompt solutions to their complaints. • All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required: Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Preferred: Experience - 3+ years of Clinical Experience Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing Physical Requirements: Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
