Consultant, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

About Snaplinc Snaplinc Consulting is a fast growing Seattle-based global consulting firm focused on sustainability strategy and ESG regulatory compliance. We advise 50+ clients across apparel and outdoor, food and beverage, retail and ecommerce, health and beauty, software and technology and many other sectors. We advise and provide technical implementation on global packaging EPR, PFAS, and PPWR; we support climate workstreams such as GHG assessments, CDP and CA SB 253 reporting, SBTi target-setting and decarbonization planning; we offer full service EcoVadis and B Corp consulting; and we write and design sustainability reports. Our work spans the US, Canada, and the EU, and we keep our clients ahead of the accelerating regulatory wave. About the role This is a hands-on role that combines advisory work with execution. You will own a portfolio of client EPR programs across US states, Canadian provinces and EU member states, carrying each from registration through annual reporting while advising clients on what the rules require and how to act on them. Key responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of client EPR programs and serve as the primary contact for those clients on packaging EPR.
  • Determine producer and obligated-party status under each applicable program, including hierarchy and exemption analysis.
  • Collect, classify, and validate client packaging data, calculate reportable quantities and fees, and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare and submit producer registrations and annual reports across US state programs (seven active states), Canadian programs (nine active provinces and the Federal Plastics Registry), and EU member-state schemes (EPR and PPWR).
  • Interact directly with producer responsibility organizations and compliance schemes (for example Circular Action Alliance, Recycle BC, CITEO, CONAI, Ecoembes, Valpak) to resolve registration, data, and fee questions.
  • Track deadlines, registration windows, and reporting cycles across the client book and keep clients ahead of them.
  • Monitor regulatory change across the US, Canada, and the EU, interpret new requirements, and translate them into clear client guidance and internal updates.
  • Support PPWR and ESPR readiness work as those regimes come into application.
  • Build and maintain trackers, calendars, and reference tools, applying version control so the team works from current, accurate documentation.
  • Support plastic source reduction planning workstreams through effective project management, excel-based data modeling capabilities, and providing perspective from experience in packaging re-design (if relevant)
  • Prepare client-facing deliverables and contribute to scoping and proposals as capacity allows.

What you bring

  • Hands-on EPR experience. You have personally worked on packaging EPR registration, reporting, or regulatory analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of US, Canadian, and EU packaging EPR with sound regulatory understanding. Expert depth in every region at hire is not required, but you can work competently across all three and reason from the underlying rules.
  • Strong data acumen. Advanced Excel, comfort with large SKU and packaging datasets, and accuracy under reporting deadlines.
  • Comfort owning client relationships and running your own deliverables and deadlines.
  • Ability to translate regulation into practical, defensible steps a client can act on.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical requirements to non-specialists.
  • Organized, able to manage multiple clients and competing deadlines without losing detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (environmental science, engineering, chemistry, business, law, or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Helpful, and we will train if needed

  • Depth in PPWR and ESPR, including recyclability, recycled content, and design requirements.
  • Recyclability and eco-modulation assessment, and environmental marketing claims (FTC Green Guides, recyclability labeling).

Compensation and benefits

  • Salary range: TBD, depending on experience.
  • Benefits: Snaplinc offers health and dental insurance, HSA contributions, 401(k), paid time off and more.

How to apply

  • Send resume and cover letter via LinkedIn
  • Include a brief note naming one EPR program you have personally registered or reported under and the portal you used.
