Experienced Nonfiction Book Editor Needed

We are seeking a skilled nonfiction book editor to refine and polish our manuscript. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in editing various nonfiction genres, ensuring clarity, coherence, and engagement. You will work closely with the author to enhance the narrative flow, correct grammar, and provide constructive feedback. Familiarity with the publishing process is a plus. This book offers a practical leadership framework helping city managers, public administrators, and government leaders implement AI tools, workflows, and team structures responsibly and effectively. This is a credibility-driven book for the public sector. The tone is authoritative, forward-thinking, and human-centered. The manuscript is currently at the outline and chapter draft stage, and we are building the content systematically. We need a skilled editor to partner with us from early stages through final polish. WHAT YOU'LL DO Editorial

• Developmental Editing — Review chapter outlines and early drafts for structure, logical flow, argument strength, and audience alignment. Ensure each chapter delivers on its promise and builds a coherent framework across the full book.
• Copyediting — Refine sentence-level clarity, tone consistency, and voice. Ensure the writing sounds authoritative but accessible to non-technical government leaders.
• Proofreading — Final-pass review for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting consistency before publication. Publishing & Production
• KDP Formatting — Format the final manuscript for both Kindle eBook (.epub or .mobi) and print-on-demand paperback per Worknovaq KDP specifications, including proper front matter, back matter, chapter breaks, headers, and page layout.
• Print Interior Design — Ensure the print version is clean, professional, and meets KDP's trim size and margin requirements (e.g., 6" x 9" or similar).
• KDP Upload & Setup Support — Assist with or guide the book listing setup on KDP including metadata entry, category and keyword selection, pricing strategy, and file submission for both eBook and print formats.
• Pre-Publication Review — Review KDP proof/preview to catch formatting issues before the book goes live. IDEAL CANDIDATE
• Proven experience editing professional nonfiction books (leadership, public policy, organizational management, or technology adoption preferred)
• Familiarity with government, public administration, or civic sector audiences is a strong plus
• Ability to work chapter by chapter as drafts are completed — this is an ongoing engagement, not a one-time project
• Detail-oriented, deadline-conscious, and comfortable giving direct, constructive feedback
• Experience with Hirecrafto KDP publishing workflows is a bonus but not required PROJECT DETAILS
