Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grant Writing Specialist to join our dynamic and growing team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within Nyanga, Manicaland Province, or indeed globally, while contributing to impactful projects. As a Grant Writing Specialist, you will be instrumental in identifying, researching, developing, and submitting compelling grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Your expertise will directly support various client initiatives, ranging from social impact programs to research and development projects across diverse sectors. We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of success in securing significant grants, a deep understanding of the grant lifecycle, and exceptional written communication skills. This role requires a meticulous researcher, a persuasive storyteller, and a strategic thinker capable of aligning project needs with funding priorities. You will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subject matter experts to gather necessary information, articulate project goals, and demonstrate measurable impact. Beyond simply writing, you will be expected to strategically position projects for funding, analyze trends in philanthropy, and contribute to the overall fundraising strategy for our clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other philanthropic organizations relevant to client projects.
  • Develop and write clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, and supporting documents tailored to specific funder guidelines and interests.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and subject matter experts to gather accurate project information, data, budgets, and compelling stories necessary for robust proposal development.
  • Manage the entire grant submission process, ensuring all proposals are submitted accurately, on time, and adhere to all funder requirements and compliance standards.
  • Maintain a detailed calendar of grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and communications with current and prospective funders.
  • Track and report on the status of submitted proposals and outcomes, including funds awarded, rejected, and feedback received.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective funders to enhance future funding opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of project budgets in collaboration with financial and project management teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of grant writing strategies, processes, and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Stay abreast of current trends in philanthropy, grant writing best practices, and relevant industry sectors to inform strategic approaches.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive professional experience in grant writing, with a proven track record of securing significant funding from various sources.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive, clear, and impactful narratives.
  • Strong research skills to effectively identify appropriate funding opportunities and gather compelling supporting data and evidence.
  • Proficiency in project management and organizational tools to efficiently manage multiple proposals, deadlines, and communication streams simultaneously.
  • Advanced understanding of the entire grant application process, including comprehensive budgeting, intricate reporting, and strict compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute effectively as part of a remote, collaborative team.
