Position Overview

This entry‑level role operates under the guidance of the Corporate Manager of Purchasing and plays a pivotal part in managing requisitions, processing purchase orders, and maintaining vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for supporting the end‑to‑end procurement lifecycle—all from the comfort of a home office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned purchase requisitions, sourcing materials or services from existing vendors whenever feasible.
  • Process orders that require manual intervention, including standing orders, blanket orders, new‑vendor requests, and service contracts.
  • Review purchase requisitions for compliance with budgetary constraints and organizational policies.
  • Identify and evaluate potential vendors based on availability, price, quality, and reliability.
  • Assist in the vetting of new‑vendor requests, determining suitability for approval and onboarding.
  • Administer purchase orders from initial request through final delivery, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation.
  • Utilize automated materials‑management tools such as electronic data interchange (EDI) and vendor portals to streamline workflow.
  • Research product specifications and service options using reputable reference sources to support informed purchasing decisions.
  • Provide regular updates and feedback to internal stakeholders on the status of outstanding requisitions.
  • Maintain meticulous records of sourcing decisions, capturing price points, quality metrics, and delivery timelines.
  • Safeguard confidential information related to staff, patients, and organizational operations.
  • Foster collaborative communication with management, colleagues, and vendors to continuously improve departmental efficiency.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–1 years of professional experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data‑entry platforms, Microsoft Outlook, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as PeopleSoft.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret requisition details, assess vendor proposals, and ensure alignment with budgetary guidelines.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Integrity: Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Assets

  • Exposure to procurement software or e‑procurement platforms (e.g., Ariba, Coupa).
  • Basic understanding of supply‑chain concepts such as lead time, inventory turnover, and cost‑of‑ownership analysis.
  • Experience with electronic data interchange (EDI) transactions or vendor portal navigation.
  • Certification in procurement or supply‑chain fundamentals (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) – not required but advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting while meeting deadlines and quality standards.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • High‑speed, accurate data entry and record‑keeping.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying process improvements.
  • Customer‑service orientation to support internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Adaptability to evolving procurement technologies and workflow enhancements.
  • Time‑management expertise to balance multiple requisitions and priorities.
