The Associate Vice President - Ambulatory Surgery Center Business Development serves as the primary business development lead for UHS’s ASC growth strategy. Reporting to the Vice President - ASC Development, this role will be responsible for identifying ASC growth opportunities in UHS’s current acute care markets (Washington D.C., CA, NV, TX and FL). Experience & Knowledge:
- ASC transaction experience is required. Including fair market valuation, understanding of financial modeling, some understanding of transaction documents (ASC operating agreements, management agreements, etc.). Some understanding of the due diligence, integration and new ASC development process.
- ASC compliance law: Understanding of Anti-Kickback & Stark Law, ASC Safe Harbor Protection.

Qualifications
Opportunity Identification, Research, and Analysis Market Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of all ASCs in UHS acute care markets (ownership, HS partners, specialties, size, primary physicians, etc.). Acquisition Target Lists: Maintain current list of qualified ASC acquisition targets in the market, establish contact at each and determine interest in potential partnership with UHS. Determine ASC Transactability: Quickly determine if ASC target is a potentially qualified JV partner for UHS, use financial and legal acumen to determine if ASC is an attractive partner based on financial criteria, physician partners and legal/ compliance considerations. Build Internal Relationships: Partner with local UHS acute care team and develop productive relationships with local UHS leaders in the market to identify potential ASC acquisition and de novo opportunities. Hold regularly scheduled meetings with local business development team to share market intelligence and information on key local physicians/ physician groups. Pipeline development: Develop a pipeline of ASC acquisition and de novo opportunities in each acute care market. Conduct ASC market research with public and privately available data ASC Networking Meet with potential acquisition and de novo ASC partners to explain the UHS ASC JV partnership structure, benefits and value proposition. Represent UHS at industry conferences, networking events, and business meetings to promote brand presence and market visibility. Conduct initial meetings with potential ASC partners in-person and in-market. Conduct out of town and evening events with healthcare providers, surgeons, etc. Deal Development Gather initial information from potential partners and collaborate with VP, ASC Development and Corporate Development analysis team to prepare business valuations, transaction structures and partnership proposals for potential ASC partners. Assist with various ad-hoc projects related to ASC growth strategy including the development of an ASC operating/ management platform division within UHS. ASC operations experience is a positive as we work to acquire or internally develop this ASC operating platform. Performs other duties as assigned/required.
