arenaflex is a global leader in advanced robotics, mechatronics, and sustainable packaging solutions. Our mission is to transform the way goods move, are stored, and are packaged by leveraging cutting‑edge automation, artificial intelligence, and environmentally responsible design. With fulfillment centers spanning continents, arenaflex’s technology powers everything from autonomous mobile robots to high‑speed sortation lines, ensuring that customers receive their orders faster, safer, and with a smaller carbon footprint.

Our Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team sits at the heart of this innovation. By blending mechanical engineering, control systems, software, and eco‑friendly materials, the MSP team creates next‑generation solutions that redefine efficiency in modern supply chains. As part of arenaflex, you will work alongside visionary engineers, product managers, and operations experts who are all committed to delivering robust, scalable, and sustainable technology.

Why This Role Matters

The Virtual Testing & Simulation – Quality Assurance function is the safety net that guarantees every new robot, packaging material, or automation cell performs flawlessly before it ever touches a real‑world fulfillment floor. You will design and execute high‑fidelity virtual environments that mirror the exact software, hardware, and material interactions found in production. By doing so, you enable rapid iteration, reduce costly physical prototypes, and accelerate time‑to‑market for groundbreaking solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain end‑to‑end virtual testing platforms that integrate real‑world software stacks, hardware control loops, and material models to achieve near‑production fidelity.
  • Design and execute Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HIL) simulations that validate system performance under a wide range of operating conditions, including stress‑testing, fault injection, and performance benchmarking.
  • Collaborate with product teams to translate functional requirements into simulation scenarios, ensuring that every new feature is verified virtually before physical rollout.
  • Synchronize virtual and physical testing efforts with the QA Manual Testing and Requirements groups, creating a seamless feedback loop that accelerates defect detection and resolution.
  • Partner with internal customers such as Operations, Robotics Mechanical Engineering (RME), Automated Control & Execution Systems (ACES), Process Engineering, and Worldwide Design (WWDE) to capture real‑world constraints and incorporate them into simulation models.
  • Establish quality standards and acceptance criteria for hardware, software, controls, and packaging materials, and communicate these benchmarks across cross‑functional teams.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis for recurring defects, using data‑driven methods to recommend design improvements, process changes, or software patches.
  • Automate test execution through scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and custom test harnesses, reducing manual effort and increasing repeatability.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate regulations, ensuring that all virtual testing activities meet safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Document and present findings to senior leadership, providing clear visualizations, performance metrics, and actionable recommendations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with large, cross‑functional engineering teams on modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fulfillment‑system technologies, including storage equipment, material handling systems, automated sortation, and related automation hardware.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, meet tight deadlines, and deliver high‑quality results in fast‑paced environments.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of solving ambiguous, multi‑dimensional problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time to fulfillment sites, partner facilities, and project locations.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Hands‑on experience with complex automated material handling equipment, high‑speed packaging technologies, and robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, Gazebo, or ROS‑based environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining HIL test rigs, including real‑time controllers and data acquisition systems.
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) or demonstrated project‑lead experience.
  • Ability to translate abstract concepts into concrete test plans, design‑of‑experiment (DOE) studies, and statistical analyses.
  • Knowledge of sustainability metrics and eco‑design principles for packaging materials.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of mechatronic system architecture, control theory, and software‑hardware integration.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with product engineers, operations teams, and senior leadership across multiple time zones.
  • Innovation Mindset: Comfort with experimenting in ambiguous environments and proposing novel validation approaches.
  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to data integrity, test configuration, and documentation standards.
