About arenaflex – Pioneering Health Innovation at Scale

arenaflex is a global leader in integrated health services, combining retail pharmacy expertise with cutting‑edge clinical research capabilities. With a legacy spanning more than a century, arenaflex serves millions of patients daily across a network of thousands of community locations, digital platforms, and specialized research sites. Our mission is to improve lives by delivering accessible, high‑quality health solutions that blend personal care with advanced technology. As part of arenaflex’s Scientific Affairs division, you will join a collaborative community of data‑driven professionals who are shaping the future of real‑world evidence (RWE) in the pharmaceutical and clinical trial ecosystem.

Role Overview – Why This Position Matters

We are seeking a highly skilled Remote Real‑World Evidence Data Scientist to lead the generation of actionable insights from real‑world data (RWD) sources. In this role, you will partner with cross‑functional teams—including clinical operations, biopharma partners, and data engineering—to design, implement, and interpret advanced analytics that inform drug development, safety monitoring, and health‑economic outcomes. Your work will directly influence strategic decision‑making, support regulatory submissions, and drive innovative therapeutic solutions that address unmet medical needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Acquisition & Integration: Extract, clean, and harmonize raw data from internal data warehouses, external registries, claims databases, and electronic health records (EHR) to build a unified, analysis‑ready data lake.
  • Analytical Strategy Development: Define and execute robust statistical analysis plans (SAPs) for observational studies, ensuring reproducibility, methodological rigor, and compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
  • Insight Generation: Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques—including generalized linear models, survival analysis, clustering, and Bayesian methods—to uncover patterns in patient cohorts, treatment outcomes, and health‑economic metrics.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with clinical trial investigators, biopharma partners, and internal stakeholders to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Dashboard & Reporting: Design interactive visualizations and executive‑level dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or Spotfire to communicate results to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of data integrity, methodological transparency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging data science tools, healthcare data standards (e.g., ICD‑10, SNOMED CT), and industry best practices to continuously enhance arenaflex’s RWE capabilities.
  • Due Diligence & Vendor Management: Evaluate new real‑world data sources and technology vendors, conducting feasibility studies and cost‑benefit analyses to support strategic investments.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in a quantitative or computational role, with a strong focus on health‑related data analysis.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages (R, Python) and query languages (SQL) for data manipulation and model development.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing reproducible statistical analyses for epidemiologic and observational studies, including familiarity with GLMs, classification algorithms, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time‑series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Hands‑on experience handling large, heterogeneous datasets from multiple sources, and a solid understanding of data privacy and security regulations governing protected health information (PHI).
  • Knowledge of at least one business intelligence tool (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire) for building dashboards and visual analytics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or advanced degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience working with EMR/Health‑IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and controlled vocabularies such as ICD‑9/10, Read Codes, LOINC, and SNOMED CT.
  • Background in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance for real‑world evidence studies (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR).
  • Expertise in real‑time data pipelines, data streaming technologies, and cloud‑based analytics platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential analysis, and computational genomics.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and to produce clear, concise documentation.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to design statistically sound studies, interpret complex results, and draw evidence‑based conclusions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of R, Python, SQL, and BI visualization tools; familiarity with big‑data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of clinical trial processes, pharmacovigilance, health economics, and outcomes research.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working in multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholder expectations, and delivering on tight timelines.
  • Problem‑Solving: Creative thinker who can translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytical approaches.
  • Ethical Integrity: Commitment to data privacy, patient confidentiality, and adherence to regulatory standards.
