Position Overview – Remote Data Engineer (Data Entry & ETL)

arenaflex is seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering (DE) group within the Data Science & Innovation (DSI) organization. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and supporting analytics initiatives that power media, content, and guest‑experience platforms. This position is fully remote, offering flexibility and a collaborative environment that values continuous learning and cross‑functional partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and translate business requirements into detailed data models, source‑to‑target mappings, and ETL/ELT specifications.
  • Design, develop, and monitor scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL (Snowflake, PostgreSQL), Python, and orchestration tools.
  • Implement data validation, profiling, and auditing processes to guarantee data integrity across multiple environments (Dev, QA, Prod).
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Product, and Innovation teams to deliver clean, well‑documented datasets for predictive models and reporting dashboards.
  • Maintain and enhance data ingestion frameworks, including automated job schedulers and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab/GitHub and Docker.
  • Support cloud‑based data platforms (AWS, Snowflake, Databricks) and contribute to architecture discussions around scalability and performance.
  • Participate in code reviews, knowledge‑sharing sessions, and documentation efforts to foster a culture of best practices.
  • Monitor production pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive alerts to minimize downtime.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience building and supporting ELT/ETL pipelines in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in SQL (preferably Snowflake) and Python for data manipulation and automation.
  • Experience with version control systems such as GitLab or GitHub, including branching strategies and pull‑request workflows.
  • Solid understanding of relational database design, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and the ability to develop and deploy services in isolated environments.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate ambiguous business needs into concrete technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications & Differentiators

  • Hands‑on experience with large‑scale cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar.
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure services, especially AWS (S3, Redshift, Lambda, Glue).
  • Background in building automated data pipelines using orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.
  • Exposure to data‑centric product development cycles and agile methodologies.
  • Experience working with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) and handling multi‑terabyte datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Deep expertise in SQL, Python, and data pipeline architecture.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose complex data issues quickly and propose scalable solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills for partnering with cross‑functional teams across the globe.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to data quality, documentation, and reproducibility.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities.
  • Learning Mindset: Eagerness to stay current with emerging data technologies and industry best practices.
