Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑moving health‑care landscape, the ability to turn raw data into actionable insights is a competitive advantage. As a Senior Data Analyst / Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of that transformation. You will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines, develop analytical dashboards, and partner with business stakeholders to solve complex problems that directly influence strategic decisions, operational efficiency, and member experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • ETL Development & Maintenance: Design, code, test, and optimize complex ETL processes using SQL, NoSQL, Python, and emerging data‑integration technologies.
  • Data Modeling & Architecture: Create and refine logical and physical data models, including star schemas, snowflake designs, and denormalized structures for OLAP and data‑warehouse solutions.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Implement automated data‑validation frameworks, monitor data‑quality metrics, and ensure high‑quality data delivery across all pipelines.
  • Collaboration & Consultation: Partner with Business Analysts, Data Scientists, Solution Architects, and key business users to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Performance Tuning: Conduct query optimization, index strategy, and resource‑allocation reviews to guarantee fast, reliable data access for reporting and analytics.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Build interactive dashboards and self‑service reporting tools using platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker, enabling stakeholders to explore data independently.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, data dictionaries, and best‑practice guidelines; mentor junior team members and lead knowledge‑transfer sessions.
  • Cloud & On‑Premise Deployment: Deploy and manage data warehouse solutions in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) as well as on‑premise infrastructures, ensuring security, compliance, and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging data‑engineering trends, propose innovative tools or processes, and champion a culture of continuous learning within the data team.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with data‑management platforms, ETL/ELT frameworks, and business intelligence tools.
  • Proficiency in writing advanced SQL queries and experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling, normalization, and denormalization.
  • Solid understanding of data‑warehouse architectures, OLAP cubes, and data‑lake strategies.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem‑solving abilities, and a detail‑oriented mindset.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, Snowflake SnowPro).
  • Experience with modern data‑pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for data‑engineer workflows.
  • Knowledge of data‑governance, security, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Prior experience in the health‑care or insurance industry, understanding of claims data, member analytics, and regulatory reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high quality.

Core Competencies & Personal Attributes

  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to see the big picture, align data initiatives with business goals, and anticipate future data needs.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working effectively in cross‑functional teams, building trust, and fostering inclusive dialogue.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a fast‑changing environment, learning new technologies quickly, and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Customer‑Centricity: Commitment to delivering solutions that enhance internal and external stakeholder experiences.
  • Integrity & Compliance: Strong adherence to data privacy, security standards, and ethical handling of sensitive information.
