Role Overview

arenaflex is seeking a seasoned Senior Database Administrator II to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of both on‑premises and cloud‑based database infrastructures. This role is pivotal in ensuring data availability, performance, and security across multiple environments, supporting a diverse portfolio of applications that drive business growth. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with strong collaboration skills, acting as a trusted advisor to development teams, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Operations & Monitoring: Proactively investigate daily database and application issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
  • Documentation & Architecture: Contribute to comprehensive documentation of existing architectures and designs, maintaining up‑to‑date diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the planning, execution, and support of policies and procedures for backup, capacity planning, maintenance, patching, and disaster recovery.
  • Data Platform Management: Support multiple databases being built, configured, and maintained in both local and remote data centers, guaranteeing high availability and resilience.
  • High‑Availability Configuration: Design, implement, and maintain high‑availability for arenaflex Database Engine including clustering, replication, and mirroring.
  • Application Support: Partner with application teams to troubleshoot database‑related problems, providing expert guidance and timely fixes.
  • Server‑Side Development: Develop server‑side application code in collaboration with infrastructure leads, ensuring optimal interaction with database objects.
  • Patch & Release Management: Deploy and manage new software releases, updates, and fixes across all database environments.
  • Best‑Practice Implementation: Create and enforce best practices for storage techniques, triggers, indexes, tables, and views.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance by analyzing and tuning storage methods, indexing strategies, and query execution plans.
  • ETL Design & Maintenance: Design and maintain enterprise‑scale ETL processes using arenaflex Integration Services, arenaflex Development Framework, and T‑SQL scripts.
  • Reporting & Auditing: Generate database health reports, conduct security audits, and implement compliance controls.
  • Security Management: Own the security of database platforms and associated applications, including account provisioning, permission reviews, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Disaster Recovery Testing: Plan, prepare, and test backup and recovery procedures for all production databases, ensuring readiness for unexpected events.
  • Capacity Forecasting: Analyze growth trends to forecast future database size requirements and plan for scalable expansion.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Communicate technical plans and status updates effectively to infrastructure leads and business partners.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience as a SQL DBA in large‑scale, multi‑site environments.
  • Strong expertise with arenaflex Database Engine, including clustering, replication, and mirroring.
  • Advanced proficiency in arenaflex Integration Services and T‑SQL programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide tier‑1 and tier‑2 support to internal and external customers.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience with arenaflex Cloud deployments and migrating databases to cloud environments.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities, including statistical analysis and problem‑solving.
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex database solutions that meet performance and reliability goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with arenaflex Reporting Services and arenaflex Analytics Services (formerly SSRS/SSAS).
  • Familiarity with arenaflex Development Framework (C# or VB.NET) and arenaflex Automation Scripts (PowerShell equivalents).
  • Background in the automotive industry or retail sector, providing insight into high‑volume transaction processing.
  • Exposure to CRM platforms and their data integration patterns.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (or equivalent arenaflex Cloud certifications).
