By centering the voices and lived experiences of Afro-Indigenous and Black-Indigenous peoples, the course challenges colonial narratives and fosters critical consciousness around race, Indigeneity, and systemic oppression. Teacher candidates will explore how these communities have historically and presently navigated issues of identity, resistance, and cultural survival, while also learning about the unique contributions they bring to education, community-building, and social justice movements. Successful candidate will work with the course lead and/or team in order to provide consistency across sections. Qualifications – Required Academic Degree: Master’s degree in Education; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 10 Teaching Certification; Grades 4-10 Ontario teaching experience.
