Why This Role Matters

The Senior Customer Experience Engineer is a cornerstone of arenaflex’s Observability and Reliability organization. In this role you will partner directly with our most strategic customers to define, implement, and continuously improve Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs). Your work ensures that arenaflex‑hosted applications meet the highest standards of availability, performance, and reliability—turning our customers into enthusiastic advocates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Collaboration: Work hand‑in‑hand with customers to co‑design SLOs and SLIs that align with their business outcomes, risk tolerance, and compliance requirements.
  • Instrumentation & Measurement: Embed measurement code, telemetry, and logging into customer workloads to capture real‑time SLO data and detect breaches before they impact end‑users.
  • Automation & Remediation: Build automated remediation pipelines, runbooks, and self‑service tools that proactively resolve or mitigate SLO violations.
  • Cross‑Team Integration: Partner with arenaflex service engineering, platform, and product teams to map customer‑defined SLOs to internal platform SLOs, creating a unified view of reliability across the stack.
  • Data‑Driven Insight: Analyze trends, reliability risks, and performance gaps from SLO data; produce actionable recommendations and road‑maps for continuous improvement.
  • Proactive Customer Engagement: Conduct regular SLO health reviews, share insights, and educate customers on best practices for reliability engineering.
  • Performance Optimization: Lead initiatives to enhance system scalability, latency, and resource efficiency, ensuring customers consistently exceed their SLO targets.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, playbooks, and knowledge‑base articles for customer‑specific SLO processes.
  • Mentorship & Culture Building: Champion arenaflex’s inclusive, growth‑mindset culture by mentoring junior engineers and advocating for diverse perspectives in reliability discussions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience designing, implementing, debugging, and launching commercial software products or web services.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Customer Reliability Engineering (CRE) within a cloud environment (arenaflex Cloud, AWS, or GCP).
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating, managing, and evolving SLOs and SLIs for enterprise‑grade cloud customers.
  • 2 + years of direct client‑facing experience, with a track record of building trusted relationships and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Strong programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, Go, PowerShell) for instrumentation, automation, and data analysis.
  • Deep understanding of observability stacks (metrics, logs, traces) and modern monitoring platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills—able to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Strengths

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, combined with 6 + years of software industry experience.
  • Experience building large‑scale, multi‑tenant monitoring solutions that serve thousands of customers simultaneously.
  • Background in developing and operating high‑throughput data pipelines for real‑time analytics.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (ISO, SOC, GDPR) and how they influence reliability contracts.
  • Prior experience with incident management frameworks such as ITIL, PagerDuty, or ServiceNow.
  • Passion for mentoring, community building, and fostering an inclusive engineering culture.
