Lead Data Scientist - Bioinformatics
Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Data Scientist with a specialization in Bioinformatics to spearhead their cutting-edge research initiatives. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing advanced analytical models and algorithms to interpret complex biological datasets, including genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics. You will lead a team of talented data scientists and bioinformaticians, guiding research projects from conception through to actionable insights. Responsibilities include designing and executing computational experiments, developing pipelines for data processing and analysis, and applying statistical and machine learning techniques to uncover novel biological discoveries. You will collaborate closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and clinicians to define research questions and translate complex biological problems into solvable data science challenges. Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, Ensembl, TCGA) are essential. Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) and cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is highly desirable. You will be responsible for the interpretation of results, the visualization of complex data, and the communication of findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. This role demands a strong scientific mind, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for advancing biomedical research through data-driven approaches. A proven ability to mentor and lead a technical team is critical. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in a highly collaborative and intellectually stimulating remote environment. A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field is required. A minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in data science, with a significant focus on bioinformatics and computational biology, is essential. Demonstrated experience in leading research projects and mentoring junior scientists is a must. Strong publication record in relevant fields is a plus. Proficiency in statistical modeling, machine learning, and common bioinformatics software is required. Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
