Compensation & Benefits Overview
Salary Range: $209,000 – $271,000 per year

Role Summary
This full‑time Engineering Manager role reports directly to the Director of Engineering, Customer Support and Services. You will lead a high‑performing, cross‑functional team of full‑stack engineers responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining the tools that deliver world‑class support experiences to arenaflex’s expanding community of buyers and sellers.
We are looking for candidates based in the United States. Those living within commuting distance of arenaflex’s Brooklyn office hub or the San Francisco Bay Area will be given priority consideration. For team members near an office, arenaflex expects in‑office attendance once or twice per week, while also offering flexible remote work arrangements to accommodate a variety of personal and professional needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Performance: Guide a team of full‑stack engineers, setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and ensuring delivery of high‑quality, reliable software.
- Recruiting & Onboarding: Partner with the talent acquisition team throughout the full recruiting lifecycle, from sourcing to interview coordination, and champion a smooth onboarding experience for new hires.
- Culture & Inclusion: Foster an inclusive, respectful, and diverse environment where every voice is heard, and where team members feel empowered to share ideas and challenge assumptions.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Design, Research, Analytics, and Marketing to align on roadmaps, define success metrics, and deliver value to internal and external users.
- Software Delivery Process: Own and continuously improve the team’s delivery pipeline, ensuring best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, and incident response.
- Continuous Learning: Promote a culture of knowledge sharing through tech talks, mentorship programs, and regular retrospectives that drive process improvements.
- Strategic Influence: Represent the engineering perspective in leadership forums, advocating for resources, technical debt remediation, and long‑term architectural decisions.
- Operational Excellence: Monitor system health, define reliability targets (SLOs/SLAs), and lead incident response when critical issues arise, turning outages into learning opportunities.
- Innovation & Experimentation: Encourage the team to prototype new ideas, evaluate emerging technologies, and iterate quickly to keep arenaflex ahead of industry trends.
Essential Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams that deliver high‑impact, high‑reliability products.
- Strong technical foundation in full‑stack development, preferably with PHP, MySQL, and modern front‑end frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to balance short‑term delivery pressures with long‑term architectural vision.
- Proven track record of hiring, coaching, and developing engineers at various career stages.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of tailoring messages for executives, peers, and individual contributors.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, consumer‑facing environment where user experience is paramount.
