Why This Role Matters

As a Floater Phlebotomist & Data Entry Analyst at arenaflex, you will be the vital bridge between patient interaction and the data‑driven insights that power our diagnostic platforms. Your dual expertise in phlebotomy and meticulous data management will ensure that every specimen is collected safely, labeled accurately, and entered into our laboratory information systems (LIS) with the highest level of precision. This role directly supports the integrity of clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and the rapid delivery of life‑changing results to patients and providers.

Position Overview

This is an on‑site, non‑remote position based in Reston, VA. You will travel to multiple Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) within the arenaflex network, providing phlebotomy services on a rotating schedule while simultaneously handling high‑volume data entry and analysis tasks. The role demands exceptional organizational skills, unwavering attention to detail, adaptability to shifting priorities, and a commitment to maintaining a strict schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Phlebotomy Services

  • Perform venous blood draws and other specimen collections in accordance with arenaflex’s standard operating procedures and industry best practices.
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and privacy throughout the collection process, addressing any concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Accurately label, document, and prepare specimens for timely transport to designated laboratories, adhering to chain‑of‑custody protocols.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all health, safety, and infection‑control regulations, including OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • Travel between assigned IOP locations on a pre‑determined schedule, providing reliable phlebotomy coverage as needed.
  • Keep the phlebotomy workspace clean, organized, and fully stocked with supplies, ensuring readiness for each collection session.

Data Entry & Analysis

  • Enter patient demographics, specimen details, and test orders into the laboratory information system (LIS) with a target accuracy rate of 99.9%.
  • Review incoming data feeds, verify completeness, and resolve discrepancies before final submission.
  • Compile, organize, and analyze data sets for internal reporting, quality‑control reviews, and regulatory submissions.
  • Identify patterns or anomalies in data entry processes and recommend corrective actions or system enhancements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA, GDPR (where applicable), and arenaflex’s data‑privacy policies.
  • Collaborate with clinical managers, IT teams, and quality‑assurance personnel to streamline workflows and improve data integrity.
  • Document and validate record‑keeping procedures, ensuring alignment with arenaflex’s operational standards.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related field is preferred.
  • Current certification in phlebotomy (state‑required where applicable).
  • Minimum of 5 years of combined phlebotomy and data‑entry experience, preferably within a healthcare or laboratory setting.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in venipuncture techniques and comfortable interacting with diverse patient populations, including pediatric, geriatric, and special‑needs groups.
  • Exceptional typing speed (≥70 wpm) and data‑entry accuracy, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and laboratory information systems (LIS); experience with Google Workspace or similar collaboration tools is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with clinicians, administrators, and technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in fast‑paced, dynamic environments.
  • Reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel between multiple sites on a regular basis.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data trends and convey findings in clear, actionable language.
  • Outstanding organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Extended periods of standing, walking, and manual dexterity required for specimen collection and equipment handling.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies or equipment weighing up to 25 lb.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts (including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends) based on site needs.
  • Adaptability to work in multiple clinical environments, each with its own layout, workflow, and patient demographics.
