Core Responsibilities

Under remote supervision and in strict accordance with state and federal regulations, you will be expected to perform the following duties. While the list below captures the primary functions, you may be asked to support additional initiatives as business needs evolve.

  • Data Entry & Verification: Accurately input new prescriptions and refill requests into arenaflex’s pharmacy management system, confirming patient demographics, medication details, prescriber information, and billing data.
  • Prescription Intake: Receive electronic or faxed prescriptions from physician offices, extract essential information (patient name, DOB, drug name, strength, directions, refills, prescriber credentials), and forward clinical queries to the supervising pharmacist.
  • Insurance Billing & Label Generation: Process insurance claims, generate medication labels, and ensure correct billing for both private and government payors, including Medicare DMEPOS documentation.
  • Third‑Party Claims Adjudication: Review claim rejections, conduct timely follow‑up calls with providers and insurance representatives, and resolve discrepancies to secure reimbursement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to controlled substance dispensing rules, including monitoring MMEs, PDMP checks, and date‑of‑last‑fill requirements.
  • Patient & Provider Outreach: Conduct outreach calls to patients, prescribers, and third‑party payors to clarify prescription details, obtain prior authorizations, and provide status updates.
  • Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Support: Assist retail locations in gathering MTM data, ensuring accurate documentation for clinical reviews.
  • Team Communication: Maintain clear, proactive communication with pharmacists, operations staff, and remote distribution officers (RDOs) regarding claim status, daily progress, and any escalations.
  • Attendance & Professionalism: Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and a courteous demeanor in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Continuous Learning: Participate in ongoing training modules, stay current with pharmacy law updates, and adopt best practices for data integrity and customer service.
  • Additional Projects: Contribute to special initiatives, process improvement studies, and cross‑functional tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Qualifications

To thrive in this role, candidates must meet the following baseline requirements. These criteria ensure that you can perform the duties safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands‑on pharmacy technician experience, preferably in a retail or community setting.
  • Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from a recognized national organization.
  • Active licensure with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with arenaflex’s pharmacy software platform (formerly known as Pioneer Rx), including prescription entry, claim submission, and reporting functions.
  • Strong grasp of pharmacy terminology, medication names, dosage forms, and aseptic handling principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to patients, prescribers, and insurance representatives.
  • Self‑motivation and the capacity to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high productivity.
  • Robust problem‑solving abilities, including troubleshooting software issues, resolving claim denials, and escalating clinical questions appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Assets

  • Experience with electronic prior authorization platforms and familiarity with Medicare DMEPOS processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations, including PDMP requirements and controlled substance handling.
  • Previous exposure to remote or virtual pharmacy operations, demonstrating adaptability to digital workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
