Overview and Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Billing Customer Support Specialist to join our REMOTE team. As a key member of our team, you will provide support to our customers, including patients, referral sources, and employees, by performing tasks related to patient care and third-party reimbursement. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service and support to patients, referral sources, and employees
  • Processing new orders, responding to questions, and resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Collecting co-pays and deductible amounts
  • Conducting insurance verification and eligibility for services/products
  • Conducting patient satisfaction calls and acting as a patient advocate to resolve questions or concerns
  • Developing and maintaining a working knowledge of current products and services, Medicare, Medicaid, insurance regulations, and FDA/DOT and JCAHO guidelines
  • Maintaining accuracy and quality control throughout patient contact and data entry
  • Managing all aspects of initial intake, including answering the phone and receiving faxes, collecting patient and referral source information, inputting data into IMBS and eIntake, printing tickets, assembling charts, and processing paperwork
  • Obtaining authorization and qualification documentation
  • Preparing complete and accurate files for the Billing Department
  • Processing work orders to field locations and coordinating timely fulfillment of products and services ordered
  • Providing product/service information and education by answering questions and offering assistance
  • Providing thorough review and Quality Assurance for medical necessity and documentation requirements of payors and regulatory bodies
  • Working extensively with eIntake proprietary system

Essential Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED equivalent required

  • One to three years of related prior work experience in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience in the medical field and administrative record management
  • Strong customer service background
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to interpret a variety of communications in English (verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, and visual)
  • Knowledge of medical billing practices and of billing reimbursement
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
  • Medical terminology
  • Multi-tasking and attention to detail
  • Self-motivation, organized, time-management, and deductive problem-solving skills
  • Sense of urgency and responsiveness to physicians, location employees, and patients
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with eIntake proprietary system

  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance regulations
  • Experience in medical billing and reimbursement
  • Certification in medical billing or a related field
