Client-Facing Software Engineer (Part-Time, Remote) – Junior or Senior – US, Canada, or LATAM
About SoftLoom SoftLoom is a software studio that builds web, mobile, and AI products for startups and established companies across Europe, the Middle East, and now—the United States. For over 10 years, we’ve helped teams turn complex ideas into working products through clear communication, practical engineering decisions, and long-term client relationships. The Role We’re looking for someone to act as the bridge between our clients and our engineering team. You’ll join client calls, ask the right questions, clarify what needs to be built, and keep everyone aligned—technically and non-technically. We are open to two types of candidates:
- Experienced Senior Engineer
– Someone with 5+ years of development experience who is equally comfortable talking with clients as writing code.
- Junior Fast-Learning Candidate
– You may have weaker technical skills today, but you are:
- A
native-level American English speaker (spoken and written)
- Based in the
US, Canada, or a Latin American country
- A fast learner, smart, and highly responsive
- Comfortable on video calls with clients
- If you fit the second profile, we will provide technical support and mentorship to help you succeed in client-facing responsibilities.
This is a part-time, fully remote contractor role . It’s ideal if you enjoy real-world software problems, product discussions, and architecture decisions—without taking on another full-time engineering role. What You’ll Be Doing
- Joining video calls with clients for discovery, updates, and follow-ups
- Asking smart questions to understand requirements, constraints, and priorities
- Turning client conversations into clear, actionable tasks for developers
- Explaining technical decisions and progress in simple, non-technical language
- Writing short, clear meeting notes and action items
- Keeping clients informed about timelines, risks, and blockers before they become issues
- Spotting opportunities to expand work when it genuinely makes sense
- Building long-term, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders
What We’re Looking For For Senior candidates:
- 5+ years as a software engineer or closely related technical role
- Strong understanding of modern development (web, mobile, APIs, cloud)
- Native-level American English
For Junior candidates:
- Based in the
US, Canada, or Latin America (required)
- Native-level American English
(required — accent neutral or naturally American)
- Less technical experience, but high IQ, fast learning, and great communication
- Willingness to learn how to translate business needs into technical tasks
For both levels:
- Comfortable leading calls with U.S. clients
- Organized, reliable, and good at following up
- Able to work independently in a fully remote setup
- Familiar with U.S. communication style and time zones (EST/CST/PST preferred but not required)
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience working with U.S.-based clients
- Background in customer success, account management, or pre-sales
- Experience in FinTech, eCommerce, or AI-driven products
