The Role of a Safety Chat Facilitator

As a Safety Chat Facilitator, you will be the first point of contact for individuals who are interested in attending our events or accessing our services. Your role will be to engage in informal online video chats with applicants, explaining how our services work and answering any questions they may have. This is a critical role, as it allows us to ensure that our services are safe and accessible for all our service users. You will also be responsible for checking that the individual is appropriate for our services and that our services are suitable for them.

Key Responsibilities

* Engage in informal online video chats with applicants to explain how our services work and answer any questions they may have

• Check that the individual is appropriate for our services and that our services are suitable for them
• Ensure that our services are safe and accessible for all our service users
• Provide a welcoming and non-judgmental space for individuals to discuss their experiences and concerns
• Collaborate with our team to develop and implement strategies to support apostates and promote inclusivity

Essential Qualifications and Skills

* Experience working with vulnerable individuals or communities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
• Strong emotional intelligence and empathy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Experience with online video conferencing platforms (e.g. Zoom, Skype)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

* Experience working in a humanist or secular organization

• Knowledge of the issues affecting apostates and the importance of inclusivity
• Experience with peer support groups or other forms of community-based support
• Ability to speak multiple languages (particularly those spoken by apostate communities)
• Experience with social media and online platforms
