Job Description

Our client is a global leader in health technology, whose Ultrasound division develops the software platform powering a broad range of diagnostic imaging devices. The platform is a large-scale, long-lived C++ codebase currently undergoing an active modernization effort - evolving toward modern C++ standards while maintaining the safety and stability that medical device software demands. We are looking for a Senior C++ Developer who combines deep systems-level expertise with a genuine, hands-on AI-native engineering mindset, using Claude Code as the primary development tool. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating complex legacy code, making pragmatic modernization decisions, and leveraging agentic AI workflows to increase development quality and throughput. MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver high-quality C++ features and improvements using AI-native, agentic development workflows with Claude Code as the primary tooling Identify, analyze, and refactor legacy code patterns while preserving system stability and safety Configure and evolve the AI development environment (CLAUDE.md, hooks, MCP integrations, custom agents and skills) to fit project needs Conduct code reviews, leveraging AI-assisted quality validation Mentor team members in both modern C++ practices and effective AI-assisted development approaches Collaborate with client's technical leads to align on technical direction and coding standards Analyze and estimate implementation effort for modernization tasks; report risks and progress EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Must have: 7+ years of commercial C++ development experience Deep knowledge of modern C++ (C++17 / C++20) Proven experience working on large, long-lived codebases where legacy patterns and modern C++ coexist Hands-on, day-to-day experience with agentic AI development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, or equivalent) - used as a primary workflow, not merely as autocomplete Ability to define clear specifications and decompose complex tasks for AI agent execution (spec-driven development approach) Experience evaluating, refining, and validating AI-generated code to meet defined quality and safety standards Strong debugging, profiling, and root-cause analysis skills in complex C++ systems Good verbal and written English Would be a plus: Experience in medical device software or other safety-critical domains Background in signal processing, image processing, or real-time / embedded systems Experience with SCons, CMake, Conan, or other modern C++ build and package tooling Experience configuring Claude Code workflows: CLAUDE.md authoring, hook scripts, MCP server integration, reusable skills and sub-agents Knowledge of cross-platform C++ development (Windows / Linux / embedded targets) PERSONAL COMPETENCIES Fluent English (written and verbal) Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent Strong analytical thinking and pragmatic problem-solving mindset Ability to balance modernization ambitions with production stability constraints Result-oriented with a strong sense of ownership Team-playing and knowledge-sharing attitude Capgemini is an AI-powered global business and technology transformation partner, delivering tangible business value.
