JOB DESCRIPTION: VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION TEACHER (3-5) SALARY SCHEDULE: CERTIFIED TEACHER SCHEDULE DEPARTMENT: ELEMENTARY INSTRUCTION FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT SAFETY-SENSITIVE: YES Position Summary The 3–5 Virtual Instruction Teacher delivers rigorous, standards-based instruction in a virtual environment, supporting students in developing strong academic skills, independence, and responsibility for learning. The teacher is responsible for designing and delivering instruction aligned to district curriculum, monitoring student progress, and preparing students for academic success and required assessments. Strong communication and collaboration with students, families, and staff are essential to support engagement and accountability in a virtual setting. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with district policies, instructional expectations, and under the supervision of the site administrator. This position is site-based. The teacher is required to report daily and perform all assigned duties from the designated elementary school site during contracted hours. Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Valid Oklahoma Elementary Certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in district instructional technology platforms and virtual learning systems
  • Completed Science of Reading training (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a virtual classroom setting preferred
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Delivers daily synchronous virtual instruction aligned to district curriculum, Oklahoma Academic Standards, and the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, including whole-group and small-group instruction.
  • Utilizes district-adopted curriculum and adheres to district instructional frameworks and pacing expectations when planning and delivering instruction.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials through an online learning management system and adapts instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Maintains accurate student records and required data, including attendance, progress monitoring, and all state and federal reporting requirements (e.g., child count and OSDE reporting).
  • Monitors and evaluates student academic growth, adjusts instruction based on data, and prepares progress reports aligned to student goals.
  • Establishes and maintains a virtual learning environment in which all students feel supported, engaged, and connected to the educational process.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians through conferences and ongoing communication to support student progress and understanding of the instructional program.
  • Identifies student needs and collaborates with professional staff to provide appropriate academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions and supports.
  • Adheres to all district and school policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in district/site handbooks and state regulations.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

Language And Grammar Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.
