Position Details Department: CORP | Physician Revenue Cycle Location: Telecommuting Shift: Mon-Fri, Days, 8am-5pm Category: Patient Financial Services Posting #: 1015877 Employee Type: Full-Time Position Summary Posting Note: Job Title: Collections Specialist – AHCCCS Collections / Follow-Up Location: Fully Remote (Must Reside in Arizona) Schedule: Full-Time – 8-hour shift between 6:00 AM – 5:30 PM (flexible start times) Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Collections Specialist with healthcare accounts receivable experience to support AHCCCS and insurance collections. This role is responsible for performing follow-up with payors, resolving outstanding claims, and helping reduce accounts receivable within a healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of payer processes, insurance collections, and appeals management. Experience in a multispecialty medical environment is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Perform follow-up with payors regarding outstanding claims, including AHCCCS and commercial insurance accounts. Investigate and resolve denied or delayed claims to ensure timely reimbursement. Submit and track insurance appeals as necessary. Work to reduce accounts receivable balances and meet collection goals. Review claim status, identify billing issues, and coordinate resolution with internal teams. Ensure compliance with payer policies, contractual requirements, and governmental regulations. Maintain accurate documentation of collection activities and follow-up actions.

Required Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing collection activity and reducing accounts receivable in a healthcare setting. Experience with healthcare A/R collections and insurance collections. Experience with claims appeals. Special Skills Ability to follow payer and governmental requirements as required by the organization. Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills. Knowledge of healthcare billing and reimbursement processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with AHCCCS payors. Multispecialty Medical Practice Experience Strongly Preferred. This position collects payments for an assigned segment of the Accounts Receivable and performs collection duties in accordance with established federal and state regulations. Position Duties

• Bills both electronically and manually, as needed, and uses all technology available to produce clean claims.
• Interprets claims processing reports and applies information to produce clean claims.
• Maintains current knowledge of regulatory billing requirements.
• Makes changes to demographic information as necessary in order to produce a clean claim.
• Meets or exceeds productivity standards in the completion of daily assignments and accurate production.
• Analyzes coding to assure proper billing of claim.
• Participates in a variety of hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels.
• Requests and attaches required clinical documentation in accordance with third party requirements.
• Services accounts in priority of importance, independently billing accounts with understanding of all applicable insurance and CMS regulations. Prioritizes work to maximized turnaround time.
• Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
