Science Librarian

We are looking for a candidate with a Master's degree in Library Science or related field, as well as experience in science librarianship or a science-related field. Collaborate with students, faculty, and researchers to understand their information needs and provide appropriate resources and support. Promote and encourage the use of library resources and services among the science community at UNC Charlotte. Develop and maintain a strong collection of science-related materials, both in physical and digital formats. Stay up-to-date with current trends and developments in science librarianship and information literacy, and apply them to improve library services. Provide reference and research assistance to patrons, including instruction on how to effectively use library resources. Plan and conduct workshops and training sessions on information literacy and research skills for students and faculty in the sciences. Collaborate with other librarians and departments to develop and implement programs and services that support science education and research. Participate in collection development activities, including selecting and acquiring materials, evaluating current collections, and making recommendations for future purchases. Serve as a liaison to specific science departments or programs, building relationships and understanding their unique information needs. Contribute to the development and promotion of the library's online presence, including creating and maintaining subject guides and instructional materials. Actively engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of science librarianship. Collaborate with colleagues to assess and improve library services, policies, and procedures. Participate in outreach activities to promote the library and its resources to the wider campus community.
