The Opportunity
As a Customer Service Representative in our Housing Customer Service Center, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of our students, faculty, staff, and guests. Key Responsibilities
* Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external customers, meeting their needs, offering options, and resolving problems in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain a friendly, helpful demeanor and ensure full customer satisfaction without unnecessarily referring customers to other staff members.
- Provide information regarding policies and procedures, terms, and programs relating to the service area for students, parents, faculty, administrators, staff, and outside customers.
- Identify and prioritize problems and issues related to the service area, perform research, offer solutions, options, and strategies, and refer to appropriate personnel or departments as needed.
- Use information systems to input data, maintain databases, perform research for projects or issues, generate reports, and track problem status until resolution is achieved.
- Study and maintain currency with all applicable policies and procedures, contracts, and related legal issues.
- Interpret terms and conditions of contracts, authorize changes or exceptions to contract terms, generate contracts for forms for distribution, and process applications, releases, cancellations, adjustments, changes, requests, fees, invoices, and other related paperwork.
- Represent the department to students, parents, faculty, administrators, staff, and other outside customers, and may act as a representative for the department at internal committee meetings, such as the Customer Service Planning Group.
- Train, schedule, assign, and prioritize workloads, interpret operating policies and procedures, ensure timely completion of departmental work, and may lead student workers.
- Notify appropriate personnel in the event of an emergency, maintain complete and accurate records of all student- or staff-related safety incidents, and provide services including processing and delivery of mail and packages, receiving key deposits, issuing keys, and maintaining and balancing a cash drawer on a daily basis.
Essential Qualifications
* Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum Experience: 1 year of customer service experience, with combined education/experience as a substitute for minimum experience.
- Minimum Field of Expertise: Customer Service.
- Valid CA driver's license required, with participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.

Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- 2 years of customer service experience, with a focus on student counseling or customer service.
- Strong knowledge of policies and procedures, contracts, and related legal issues.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
