Job Title: Network Engineer - III Duration: 30 Month Contract Location: 100% Remote Work 3rd shift, 8-hour, 5-day work weeks (Monday–Friday mornings) The successful candidate will be responsible for advanced configuration and operating system upgrades of carrier-class Cisco and client equipment supporting a complex, multi-vendor nationwide telecom data network. The Engineer will also work on emerging virtualization technologies across the Pacific and North Central Markets. This role includes assisting with implementation responsibilities for one or more COINs and working closely with the Implementation and Engineering teams to support strategic technology initiatives and the transition from VXLAN to the eNSE platform. This next-generation network leverages virtualization and software-defined networking technologies to enhance products and services while maintaining the client’s industry leadership. The client is seeking a motivated and driven engineering professional who will support IP networking build projects and collaborate with Capacity Planning, Design, and Operations teams to implement strategic technology goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 3rd shift, 8-hour, 5-day work weeks (Monday–Friday mornings)
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance window changes with multiple internal and external teams
  • Implement scheduled maintenance activities while adhering to corporate standards
  • Configure and support routers, switches, and related network equipment including Cisco CRS, NCS, ASR9K, ISR3945, Nexus 3K/7K/9K, and Juniper MX-480/MX-960
  • Work with IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS, and JunOS operating systems
  • Implement configuration changes across Intelligent Edge Networks and eNSE fabric environments
  • Utilize automation tools such as Python, NSO, DCNM, VTS, Pronghorn, and Nuage
  • Perform transport circuit turn-up and troubleshooting activities
  • Deploy and troubleshoot newly installed routers and switches remotely across telecom data center locations in the United States
  • Engineer network configurations for onboarding private cloud tenants
  • Support networking technologies including IPv6, L2VPN, L3VPN, OSPFv3, MPBGP, QoS, MPLS, and VRFs
  • Perform BAU maintenance activities including ACL updates and software upgrades
  • Utilize network monitoring tools during maintenance windows to validate network performance before and after changes
  • Review MOPs and automated dry-run outputs to ensure change accuracy
  • Participate in MOP review meetings and project synchronization calls
  • Coordinate with Network Assurance teams to ensure no customer impact during maintenance activities

Must Have Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights and occasional weekends
  • Strong Layer 1 troubleshooting experience with copper and fiber cabling including Cat5/6, SC, LC, FC, and MPO
  • Strong CLI experience with Cisco and client networking devices
  • Experience with IP Layer 1–3 technologies and MPLS
  • Hands-on experience with network virtualization and implementing updates on live devices
  • Ability to follow and implement detailed engineering design documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6)
  • Experience with spine-leaf architecture, VXLAN, and BGP
  • Strong troubleshooting and coordination skills in remote environments
  • Ability to manage tickets, work logs, and project updates efficiently
  • Excellent attention to detail

Desired Skills:

  • CCNA or CCNP certification
  • Experience with client SR-OS devices
  • Experience with cloud and virtualization technologies including OpenStack, AWS, Azure, Linux, Docker, Ansible, Chef/Puppet
  • Experience supporting large and complex telecom data networks
  • Strong understanding of BGP, MPLS, OSPF, L2VPN, L3VPN, SIP, and WAN technologies
  • Experience managing multiple technical projects and coordinating across teams
  • Understanding of 3G and 4G call flows

Logistics:

  • 40-hour work week (5 days / 8 hours)
  • Overnight shift
  • No overtime
