As a Data Center Customer Operations Engineer Intern, you'll be part of a close-knit team that's dedicated to delivering best-in-class service to our data center customers. You'll be at the forefront of all we do, maintaining critical facilities infrastructure and supporting our customers with timely adherence to semi-routine execution order requirements. Key Responsibilities
As a Data Center Customer Operations Engineer Intern, your key responsibilities will include:
Installations (Server/Network/Cross Connect Cable)
+ Racks and stacks customer equipment + Installs intra-cage fiber tray, ladder rack, customer equipment, and cabinets + Infrastructure installs to include whalebone cable management, public fiber tray systems, carrier ladder rack, AC/DC power trays, security trays, and cash mesh + Installs and tests advanced cross-connect circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.) + Installs and tests Equinix Link cross-connects (T1, DS3, OC3-48, Eth, GigE, 10Gig)
Testing/Troubleshooting
+ Supports semi-routine standard operating testing and standard operating installations of customer assets + Supports standard operating procedures of layer 1 cross-connect certification testing
Customer Management
+ Supports customer satisfaction with timely adherence to semi-routine execution order requirements + Delivers a high level of service and an excellent customer experience when interfacing with customers + Provides support with time expectations on new deployments and existing alterations, by following standard operating procedure guidelines + Supports customers on-site by through access control and escorting services
Training
+ Completes all assigned training on Documentation/Reporting in a timely manner
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in a related field (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science, telecommunications)
- Strong understanding of data center operations and infrastructure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a standing position for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would be a plus:
- Experience in data center operations or a related field
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cross-connects
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools and technologies
- Certification in a related field (e.g., CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA)
