Responsibilities
As a Specimen Processor/Data Entry Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory. Your responsibilities will include:
- Accurately entering patient and specimen data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Professionally handling incoming phone calls related to specimen processing
- Verifying, labeling, and ensuring proper handling and storage of biological specimens
- Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance guidelines
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Working collaboratively with lab personnel to ensure an efficient workflow
- Meeting productivity goals and maintaining turnaround time expectations
- Identifying and resolving basic specimen discrepancies to prevent processing errors
- Assisting with sample tracking and maintaining accurate chain-of-custody documentation
- Monitoring and reporting specimen issues such as mislabeling, leaks, or insufficient volume
- Supporting lab compliance efforts by following HIPAA and safety regulations
- Preparing and packaging samples for further laboratory testing as needed
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support lab operations
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree or coursework in molecular biology, chemistry, or related sciences (a plus)
- Computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems quickly
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced laboratory environment
- Organized and efficient multitasker with strong time management skills
- Effective communicator with strong teamwork skills
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic
- All positions require time zone awareness, including the impact of daylight saving time, as we are a multi-state organization with teams and partners across different U.S. time zones. Clear communication and timely coordination are essential.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. If you are a recent or soon-to-be graduate with a background in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related life sciences, or a newly certified phlebotomist, medical assistant (MA), EMT, or someone with healthcare experience, we encourage you to apply.
Available Schedules
We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs. The available schedules are:
- Monday to Friday 2200 to 0630
- Tuesday to Saturday 1500 to 2230
- Tuesday to Saturday 0500 to 1330
- Saturday to Wednesday 1500 to 2330
- Tuesday to Saturday 0830 to 1700
- Sunday to Wednesday 2200 to 0830
- Sunday to Thursday 2200 to 0630
Work Location
Our laboratory is located in Draper, UT, and we require a reliable commute or relocation before starting work.
Job Type
This is a full-time position with a starting pay range of $17.75 to $19.50 per hour.
Benefits
As a W2 hourly employee, you will receive an 8% shift differential for hours worked between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., as well as for all hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays. Our benefits package includes:
