Remote Principal Civil Engineer - Transportation

This senior-level position offers the chance to lead and shape transformative transportation initiatives from your home office, collaborating with a national network of experts. You will be instrumental in the planning, design, and execution of complex transportation systems, including highways, roadways, transit facilities, and associated infrastructure. Your expertise will guide project teams, ensure technical excellence, and foster client relationships. Responsibilities: Lead the development of conceptual designs, preliminary engineering, and final design for major transportation projects. Oversee traffic analysis, geometric design, drainage design, and utility coordination for transportation infrastructure. Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring successful project delivery. Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering their professional development. Serve as a technical expert and primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders. Develop and implement project quality control and assurance plans. Prepare technical proposals, lead client presentations, and contribute to business development efforts. Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in transportation engineering. Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal transportation standards and guidelines. Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams in a remote environment. Conduct peer reviews of designs and technical documents. Represent the company at industry conferences and technical meetings. Qualifications: Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, with a strong emphasis on project management and design leadership. Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale transportation projects. Expertise in traffic modeling and simulation software (e.g., VISSIM, HCS, Synchro) and CAD/BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation). In-depth knowledge of AASHTO 'Green Book', MUTCD, and relevant state DOT standards. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, vital for remote team collaboration. Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and secure new business. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote setting. Experience with public-private partnerships (P3) is a plus.
