Your Role

As a Desktop Support Specialist at arenaflex, you will be an integral part of our IT operations team, responsible for providing high-performance support services to our customers. You will work in a fast-paced startup environment, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues related to Windows, SCCM, CentOS Linux, MAC OS X, MS Office, email, network connections, and hardware/peripherals IT systems. Your primary goal will be to deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring that our clients receive timely and effective support in a professional, courteous, and proactive manner.

Key Responsibilities

As a Desktop Support Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Efficient setup and configuration of software, as well as troubleshooting and repair of malfunctioning software in a Linux and Windows environment.
  • Managing end-user expectations and system troubles using technical and customer service skills.
  • Controlling the fundamentals of IT security protocols (account management, etc.).
  • In association with manufacturing engineers, setting up and configuring software, as well as troubleshooting and restoring malfunctioning software in the computer environment.
  • Administering mail structures, device installation and configuration, printing structures, setup of third-party software.
  • Setting up and improving PC structures in a networked environment with minimal user interruption.
  • Properly integrating devices, including printers, scanners, and digitizing capsules, with Linux, Macintosh, and Windows systems.
  • Examining current strategies, identifying areas for improvement, and advising viable solutions.
  • Actively participating in ongoing technology introduction, improvement discussions, and projects in both an individual and institutional capacity.
  • Controlling break-restoration expectations with staff and communicating adjustments accordingly.
  • Studying and recommending hardware and software solutions as needed.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing, or setting up for repair of defective computer equipment.
  • Successfully communicating the status of problems and initiatives in progress to concerned parties on a timely basis.
  • Identifying and advising solutions to technical problems as needed.
  • Recording and communicating machine guide issues with end-users, IT team members, and management.
  • Performing unique projects as needed.

Requirements

To be a contributing member of our team, you will have a combination of the following capabilities:

  • Degree or Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or equivalent, or years of desktop support experience in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent understanding of technology and the role of the customer in relation to the larger IT infrastructure.
  • Strong skills in Linux running structures (CentOS broadly speaking). Command line experience required. Remote control and scripting experience beneficial.
  • Windows 7 or 10 operating systems experience a plus.
  • Experience helping 3-D artists and software developers or working in a creative environment is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and pleasant way with co-workers.
  • Tremendous technical, verbal, and written skills.
  • Self-starter, active, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Team player that strives to maximize team/department performance.
  • Element-oriented and able to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient way.
  • Capable of managing time successfully, triaging, and prioritizing based on manufacturing needs.
  • Capable of lifting 22kg on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
