Orientation and Scheduling:
To ensure a smooth transition into our team, all candidates will be required to attend a comprehensive two-week orientation program, working Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at arenaflex, you may be required to work 16-hour shifts as needed, demonstrating your flexibility and commitment to delivering exceptional care.
Work Environment:
arenaflex's North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a maximum security, all-male forensic mental health facility located in Gainesville, Florida. With a current capacity of 193 residents, our team is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment that fosters growth and rehabilitation. Our residents are primarily young adults in their early 30s, and our goal is to help those committed for Incompetent to Proceed to Trial (78%) return to their committing courts for disposition of their charges, while also supporting those committed as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (22%) in transitioning to less restrictive environments.

As a CNA at arenaflex, you will have the opportunity to work with individuals who are struggling with complex mental health issues, and contribute to their recovery and rehabilitation.
Candidate Responsibilities:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at arenaflex, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting with all aspects of resident care, including activities of daily living, ambulation, mobility, and nutrition, as assigned by the nurse/shift supervisor.
- Observing, identifying, and reporting resident concerns or needs to the shift supervisor in a timely and accurate manner.
- Documenting information factually and objectively, within the acceptable time frame as defined by facility policy.
- Providing safe and supportive observation, and effectively monitoring assigned residents to ensure their well-being and safety.
- Completing assignments timely, completely, accurately, and in a cooperative manner, demonstrating your ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Providing the necessary assistance with activities of daily living nursing care, including oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming, hair and nail care, shaving, toileting, eating and drinking, and mobility.
- Assisting with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health-related tasks.
- Displaying professionalism throughout employment, including arriving to work on time, maintaining an accurate timesheet, and maintaining a professional appearance as defined by facility policy.
Essential Qualifications:
* Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Florida.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of experience as a CNA in a healthcare setting, preferably in a psychiatric or forensic mental health facility.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with residents, staff, and families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including 16-hour shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs, including those with forensic or psychiatric diagnoses.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, or other related areas.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with residents and families from diverse backgrounds.
