Product Owner, Broker Integrations - Equity
Job Summary insightsoftware is seeking a Product Owner to support the Senior Product Manager in executing the Broker Integrations roadmap within Certent Equity Management. The Product Owner is responsible for day-to-day backlog management, writing detailed requirements, and ensuring engineering teams have the clarity they need to deliver broker-related features, enhancements, and defect resolution. You will work directly with engineering, QA, broker partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive broker capabilities from requirements through delivery, while the Senior Product Manager retains ownership of overall domain strategy, broker partner relationships, roadmap prioritization, and multi-quarter planning. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role requiring both domain knowledge of broker transactional workflows and the ability to translate business needs into clear, implementable requirements for engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Backlog Management & Requirements
- Own and maintain the broker integrations backlog, ensuring stories are groomed, prioritized, and ready for sprint planning in alignment with the Senior Product Manager's roadmap direction and quarterly priorities
- Write detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications based on PRDs and strategic direction provided by the Senior Product Manager
- Define edge cases, error handling, and workflow logic for broker transaction features - including inquiry, execution, settlement, and reconciliation flows across supported broker partners
- Document system integration specifications, message formats, and data mapping rules with the precision required for financial transaction processing - particularly for FIX protocol-based interactions
- Triage incoming broker-related defects and enhancement requests from Customer Support, Professional Services, and broker partner escalations, performing initial severity and impact assessment before escalating prioritization decisions to the Senior Product Manager
Execution & Delivery
- Serve as the primary product point of contact for the engineering team during sprint execution on broker integration workstreams
- Participate in all Agile ceremonies - sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Accept or reject completed work against defined acceptance criteria, ensuring delivered features meet the quality bar required for financial transaction integrations - particularly for transaction-sensitive areas such as participant exercises, same-day sales, ESPP dispositions, and broker settlement workflows
- Validate broker integration behavior across transaction types, partner configurations, and error scenarios before release
- Track delivery progress and flag risks, blockers, or scope changes to the Senior Product Manager promptly
- Monitor post-release quality for broker integration features, logging regression incidents and coordinating with engineering on hotfix triage when transaction processing issues arise in production
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with QA to define test scenarios and validate broker integration workflows across transaction types, broker partner configurations, and edge case data conditions
- Work with Customer Support to review recurring broker-related tickets, gather reproduction details, and translate support patterns into actionable backlog items
- Support Compliance and Security review processes by preparing feature documentation and participating in review sessions as needed
Customer & Partner Support
- Support the Senior Product Manager in customer discovery sessions and broker partner engagements, capturing detailed notes on pain points, workflows, and feature requirements
- Assist in preparing demos, training materials, and documentation for broker partners and internal teams
- Participate in broker partner business reviews as needed, capturing action items and translating feedback into backlog updates
Documentation & Process
- Maintain clear and current product documentation - including integration specifications, workflow diagrams, message format references, partner configuration guides, and release notes - for broker integration features
- Document root cause analysis findings, workaround procedures, and known issue summaries for broker-related defects
- Contribute to PRD development by drafting sections, compiling research, documenting technical integration details, and validating partner-specific requirements for the Senior Product Manager's review
- Drive consistency in documentation standards, story formatting, and acceptance criteria quality within the broker integration workstream
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 2+ years in a product owner, business analyst, or junior product management role, preferably in B2B SaaS environments
- 1+ years of experience in broker integrations within equity management, equity compensation, or financial services platforms
- Demonstrated experience writing detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications for integration or transaction-processing features
- Strong track record of working directly with engineering teams in Agile/Scrum environments
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and written communication skills - particularly around integration logic, data mapping, and transaction workflow documentation
Technical & Domain Knowledge
- Familiarity with broker transactional workflows, including inquiry, execution, and settlement processes for participant equity transactions
- Exposure to integration protocols and data exchange patterns used in broker connectivity - FIX protocol experience is a strong plus
- Understanding of the regulatory and security considerations involved in broker-dealer integrations and financial transaction processing
- Familiarity with JIRA or similar backlog management tools
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field required
Preferred Qualifications
- CEP (Certified Equity Professional) certification, any level, is a plus
- MBA or similar advanced degree preferred
- Direct experience with the Certent Equity Management platform or comparable equity administration systems with broker integration capabilities
- Hands-on experience with FIX protocol messaging, broker API integrations, or financial transaction middleware
