Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – International Freight Forwarding

We're now seeking an experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist to join our team and contribute to the development of our ocean product.

Job Summary

As an Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll play a critical role in supporting the growth of ocean volumes, enhancing the development of our ocean product, and promoting the ocean product to our customers. You'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, Global Trade Lane Team, Sales, and Operations to implement and communicate strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality. You'll also be responsible for supporting carrier development, pricing, and analyzing carrier service, routings, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of our ocean product by implementing and communicating strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality. - Work closely with our MD of Ocean, Global Trade Lane Team, Sales, and Operations to develop and implement pricing programs, review volume targets, and develop an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement. - Communicate both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with our MD, Ocean, along with our Global Trade Lane Team, Sales, and Operations to communicate direction and deliverables. - Direct and indirect customer contact will also be required to promote the ocean product and support sales and operations as needed. - Work closely with our Product, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures in order to minimize our company's risk exposure and enhance service quality and achieve volume targets. - Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded. - Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required. - Work with our MD, Ocean, along with our Regional Ocean Management Team, to promote the ocean product and support sales and operations as needed. - Manage annual budget; control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis in order to achieve budget targets. - Work closely with our Marketing team to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product.

Essential Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent - At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing - Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus - Familiar with Microsoft Office apps - Excellent communication and presentation skills - Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in ocean product development and implementation - Knowledge of ocean carrier operations and logistics - Familiarity with ocean freight forwarding software and systems - Experience in managing budgets and controlling costs - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
