About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our Quality Control Standards and Guidelines team as a Mid-Year 2024 Data Analyst Intern. As a Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving a culture of safety, efficiency, and innovation by identifying statistical patterns and performance metrics to improve the Quality Control division. You will work closely with our team to analyze data, create reports, and develop recommendations for process improvements.
Responsibilities and Expectations
As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- Performing and assisting others in the Quality Control team in ideal data collection, validation, and root cause analysis on data components.
- Helping to create and present results from complex data and analysis for both technical and non-technical clients and leaders.
- Assisting in exploring ad-hoc requests arising from emerging maintenance issues and providing logical answers to enable Senior Leaders to make business decisions while adjusting existing project responsibilities.
- Presenting insights, patterns, and potential recommendations by using data visualization tools supporting the relevant marks of the investigation to ease partner understanding.
- Helping to create and disseminate specific queries to pull and coordinate data from various sources, establishing the rhythm, and approving the need of the data requirements.
- Identifying irregularities in processes through reviews/audits and conveying findings to the team.
- Assessing the effectiveness of processes and methods by observing for patterns and errors.
- Ensuring that a compliance mindset is at the forefront of every decision.
- Performing other work duties as directed by Group Leader.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Business Administration).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze large datasets with precision and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively listen, understand, and convey ideas and present findings in written, verbal, or presentation formats to diverse audiences.
- Ability to evaluate business issues, identify valuable opportunities for data needs, and interpret resulting metrics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience in data visualization tools and capacities (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, or QuickBase) a plus.
- Ability to grasp the issue, summarize, and perform root cause analysis on data, and provide recommendations using logic and reasoning.
- Willingness to use PowerPoint to build presentations for verbal communications a plus.
- Past internship, capstone project, or research coursework experience a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a team-oriented, help/group-focused environment.
- Ability to focus on responsibilities seriously and be a self-motivated individual.
- Past internship experience in a related field a plus.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential data appropriately.
- Ability to plan and support large business initiatives.
